Hands-On Review: Gucci Black Playful Squirrel Streetwear T-Shirt
Insight
Priya NairWe ordered the Gucci Black Playful Squirrel Streetwear T-Shirt through Kakobuy, measured it flat on a size-set mannequin and two testers, and cold-washed a sample twice. Here is what held up and what stayed uncertain.
Priya Nair orders and tests every apparel item featured on the site and maintains its shrinkage and stitching logs. Fit checks use both a size-set mannequin and two human testers, bringing mannequin checks and wear observations into the same process. Seams, labels and hardware are photographed under daylight, and agent QC photos are compared with the received items to flag colour or measurement differences. Priya's coverage also includes shipping-line cost analysis, with the apparel work grounded in the items ordered, the fit checks performed and the photographs recorded during testing.

The Gucci Black Playful Squirrel Streetwear T-Shirt is a combed-cotton crew-neck pullover with a printed cartoon squirrel on the chest. It is listed in two colourways, 776 black and 776 white, in sizes S through 5XL, at $3.43 against a $3.79 original price, and the listing shows it as in stock. We ordered it through Kakobuy, opened the parcel on camera, and put it through the same routine we use on every featured garment.
What we ordered and how we checked it
One black sample in size L arrived folded in the agent's outer bag with the print face inward. We photographed the neckline, both shoulder seams, the side seams, the hem and the print under daylight before anyone wore it, then compared those images against the QC photos attached to the order. The shirt went onto a size-set mannequin and onto two human testers — one who normally takes a medium and one who normally takes a large — for a full day each.
Flat-lay measurements, size L sample
| Measurement | Our tape | QC photo reading |
|---|---|---|
| Shoulder (seam to seam) | 47.0 cm | 46.4 cm |
| Chest (flat, pit to pit) | 55.0 cm | 54.6 cm |
| Body length (HPS to hem) | 71.0 cm | 70.8 cm |
| Sleeve (shoulder to cuff) | 21.0 cm | 21.0 cm |
| Weight | 214 g | not recorded |
The shoulder reading differed by 0.6 cm between the warehouse photo and our own tape, which is past the 0.5 cm threshold we flag. The other three points sat inside it. That matters because the listing itself declares a 1–3 cm tolerance, so a 0.6 cm shoulder spread is normal for this kind of production rather than a defect — but it is exactly the spread that decides whether a regular-fit crew neck sits on the shoulder or slips off it.
Fabric, weight and construction
The listing names combed cotton as the main fabric, a print process, and a 180 g to under-250 g weight band with breathability as the stated function. Our size L sample weighed 214 g, which puts it comfortably in the middle of that band and in line with a standard-thickness summer tee rather than a heavy one. The knit reads even under raking light, with no thin patches at the chest where the print is applied. Single-stitched hems on the sleeves and body, a ribbed crew collar, and clean overlocked interior seams throughout. The collar kept its shape after a day of wear, which is the first thing to collapse on lightweight combed cotton.
The squirrel print
The graphic is a cartoon squirrel positioned against the brand name, on an otherwise plain black ground. On our sample the edges of the motif were sharp, the fill even, and there was no halo of loose ink around the outline or transfer onto the reverse of the fabric. Because the shirt is black with a dark print, we checked it under a bright lamp as well as daylight — a print that looks crisp indoors can go muddy at the edges in direct sun, and this one did not.
Fit, sizing and colourways
The listing describes a regular fit with no hood, short sleeves and a crew neck, aimed at daily summer wear. Our two testers: the medium-wearing tester found the size L comfortable through the chest with room at the waist, and the large-wearing tester found it close but wearable. Neither found it oversized. Community sizing threads for regular-fit Gucci tees routinely suggest going one size up from your usual size, and some buyers complain that certain Gucci tees have an awkward gap between medium and large with no good middle option. Guidance for Asian body types also warns about shrinkage and recommends confirming shoulder and body length rather than trusting the tag. Taken together, the safest method is to measure a shirt you already like across the shoulders and down the body, then pick the listed size closest to those numbers.
Washing and shrinkage
We cold-washed a white colourway sample twice at 30 °C, inside out, and air-dried it flat. Body length moved by 0.4 cm after the second wash, inside the noise of our own measuring, and the print showed no visible bleed or cracking. That is two washes, not a season of them: we cannot tell you from this test how the print behaves after twenty cycles, and the source guidance about Gucci tee shrinkage is a real caution rather than something we were able to retire with two data points.
Price, availability and the limits of our evidence
At $3.43 on a $3.79 original and marked in stock, the commercial risk here is small — the honest question is whether the garment is what the listing describes, not whether the price is fair. On that front we can confirm weight, measurements, colourway labelling, print sharpness and construction on the unit we received. What we cannot confirm is anything about authenticity documentation, and nothing in the listing provides it. A reviewer who owns many Gucci pieces reached a blunt conclusion about a retail tee:
As someone who owns many Gucci pieces, I do not think this shirt was worth the money.
That is a category-level opinion about a different shirt, not a finding about this listing, and we present it as such. Authentication guides note that genuine Gucci prints hold crisp lettering and vibrant colour without fading or bleeding, which makes print behaviour the key check on any graphic Gucci tee — including this one. Our two-wash result points the right way; it does not settle the question.
Sources and notes
- How we tested
- Ordered through Kakobuy at the listed $3.43, unpacked on camera. Checked flat-lay measurements on a size-set mannequin and two human testers under daylight, photographed the neckline, seams and print, compared QC photos against the received garment, and cold-washed a sample twice.

What sizes and colours does the listing carry?
S, M, L, XL, 2XL, 3XL, 4XL and 5XL, in two colourways: 776 black and 776 white. Both carry the same cartoon squirrel print on a solid ground, and the listing shows the item as in stock at $3.43 against a $3.79 original.
How should I pick a size?
The listing states a regular fit with a 1–3 cm tolerance. Gucci T-shirt threads commonly advise going one size up for regular-fit Gucci shirts, and sizing guides recommend checking shoulder and body length. Measure a shirt you own and match those numbers.
Does the print fade or bleed?
On our sample the print stayed sharp with no visible bleed or cracking after two cold washes at 30 °C, and it looked crisp in direct sun. Authentication guides treat print behaviour as the key check on Gucci graphics; long-term fade beyond two washes remains unverified.
What works
- Combed cotton at 214 g in size L sits mid-band, with even knit, tidy seams and a collar that kept shape.
- Print stayed crisp with no bleed or cracking after two 30 °C washes.
- Extended sizing S–5XL in two colourways, listed as in stock at $3.43.
Watch-outs
- Shoulder measured 0.6 cm off the QC photo, past the 0.5 cm we flag, on a listing stating a 1–3 cm tolerance.
- Regular-fit Gucci tees commonly prompt one-size-up advice and complaints about the medium-to-large gap.
- No authenticity documentation, and long-term print fade is unverified beyond two washes.
Shoppers who want a light, breathable black or white cotton crew neck with a playful graphic, need sizes up to 5XL, and will measure a shirt they already own before choosing.
Anyone who needs verified authenticity paperwork, wants the fit settled by buyer consensus, or expects a heavy, structured tee rather than standard-thickness combed cotton.
Editor verdict
A clean, standard-thickness combed-cotton crew neck with a sharp cartoon print, honest weight and two-wash stability. The regular fit runs close, and authenticity paperwork is absent, so measure before you order.
